Box Hill is a very lively suburb with dozens and dozens of Asian restaurants to enjoy, which we did, and were not disappointed. The train station is in the CBD enabling the rapid transit METRO Trains to get you to outer suburbs or to the city of Melbourne. Trams and buses run regularly and will also get you around Box Hill and other areas. We only stayed for two days and nights but managed a day trip further out to the east (30 minutes) for a hike thru' the beautiful forests there. Love Box Hill.

The hotel is very clean. The staff very helpfull. The roof top swimming pool was lovely and had good views of the city. There is a good gym, enough weights for a good workout. The tram line is outside the hotel that brings you straight into the city, around 40 minutes to city centre and train station just around the corner.

Be aware, you will be staying in a share accommodation! This place has about 6 rooms. I stayed with my daughter, my brother, and his son, and we were shocked to realise we didn't have the 'entire house' to ourselves as advertised. It smells of cigarettes the second you walk in. My bed was dirty with dead bugs. There were people smoking right outside my bedroom window at night. I do not recommend staying here at all!

Convenience, quiet environment and location close to what I needed. Close to Boxhill strain station and Boxhill shopping center. Many tasty food shops and restaurants. No staff standby. More freedom for guests. No air con as mentioned. Only air cooler.

We were there for a reunion. We didn't spend a lot of time around otherwise. I'm sure there are better accommodation places if we are there again. Box hill seems to be quite a bustling city. We ate at the RSL which is very good.

Mont Albert is the suburb between Box Hill & Balwyn. The area is very convenient, particularly if you know it. Mont Albert/Box Hill & Balwyn are positioned to the eastern side of Melbourne, known for great restaurants, a large shopping centre (Whitehorse Plaza) and a residential area that ranges from middle-class to more affluent. Public transport options are great. Trams go regularly along the main street (Maroondah Hwy) into & around Melbourne's CBD (Central Business District), a large network of buses go into the CBD and outer suburbs plus a major train station (Box Hill). Private transport options like taxis operate widely as well as most ride share apps (Uber, carshare...). The area is also well known as being one of Melbourne's only 'dry' areas, meaning - there are no hotels (pubs)! There are pubs in the suburbs around here and takeaway purchases of alcohol can be made from bottle shops, which are also attached to many supermarkets & alcohol is also served in most restaurants. Box Hill also has a major hospital which operates a 24/7 Accident & Emergency department, supported by an Ambulance service. A 24/7 police station is also located in Box Hill. The skyline of Box Hill has changed significantly over the past 10 years with the addition of high-rise mixed-use commercial, retail & residential buildings. That expansion is on-going.
